Colonel Eric Rivera serves as the Commander, 953d Reserve Support Squadron supporting the elite Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC) located at Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia and the Joint Staff Hampton Roads in Suffolk, Virginia. His unit augments USTRANSCOM, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC) Reserve force by providing flexible, employable packages composed of personnel who are experienced in joint operations, understand joint doctrine and are trained in the joint operation planning process. The 953rd also augments Joint Staff-Hampton Roads Joint Reserve Unit, Virginia, by providing experienced joint planners and operators to train and exercise COCOM Headquarters and Joint Task Force Headquarters in preparation for no-notice global force response. Col Rivera deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan in 2008 as the 455 Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron Commander. In 2018 he deployed to Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar as the Air Reserve Command Senior Advisor Forward for AFCENT. Most recently Col Rivera deployed in 2020 to Kabul, Afghanistan as NATO Deputy CJ4 & Deputy DCOS Support HQ, Resolute Support. In a civilian capacity Eric is Vice President - Program Management & Project Management for JPMorgan Chase.
