Here are some recent joint missions that JECC participated in:
Southern Border Operations
JECC was heavily involved in supporting U.S. Northern Command's efforts to secure the southern border. JPSE planners and public affairs specialists were embedded with Joint Task Force - Southern Border providing critical planning and communications strategies for National Defense Areas (NDAs) in Texas, Arizona, and California. JECC's public affairs team managed media engagements and coordinated messaging with federal agencies, ensuring consistent communication about border security operations. Their work was particularly vital during high-profile events, including the activation of NDAs and the deployment of additional military personnel to support border control efforts.
Operation Southern Spear
One of JECC's most visible recent missions was its support to U.S. Southern Command's Operation Southern Spear, a large-scale counter-narcotics effort aimed at disrupting transnational criminal organizations. JPSE planners deployed to USSOUTHCOM headquarters in Doral, Florida, and to II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to assist in forming Joint Task Force 84-2 while JPSE public affairs officers managed media relations and messaging to highlight the U.S. commitment to countering illicit activities in the region. Meanwhile, JCSE members provided critical communications infrastructure for USSOUTHCOM's Air Task Force at Jose Aponte Airport in Puerto Rico as well as Naval Forces Southern Command in Jacksonville, Florida, and aboard a Maritime Support Vessel in the Caribbean.
Security Assistance Group - Ukraine (SAG-U)
U.S. European Command relied upon JPSE planners and public affairs specialists as well as JCSE communicators for crisis action planning and communications in Germany before the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, then formulating response options during the first months after the invasion began, playing key roles in the formation of the International Donors Coordination Center and Joint Integration Coordination Cell, which coalesced into Security Assistance Group - Ukraine, later that year.
Operation Odyssey Guard
From 2011-2012, multiple personnel from JPSE supported joint operational planning efforts at the U.S. Africa Command, providing their expertise in key functional areas to help protect U.S. interests in Libya. The team helped develop mission analysis and support planning efforts, playing a key role in the successful evacuation of several wounded Libyan civilians in late October 2011.
Operation Rough Rider
Starting in March 2025, JECC members provided critical support to U.S. Central Command for Operation Rough Rider, an intense campaign against over 800 Houthi terrorist organization targets in Yemen. JPSE planners formulated contingency plans to address potential Iranian escalation, developed targeting and joint fires plans, coordinated naval operations, and supported USCENTCOM's long-term planning for the region. Meanwhile, JCSE communications experts maintained a continuous presence in the Levant, supporting Combined Special Operations Joint Task Force-Central at multiple locations across the USCENTCOM AOR, ensuring uninterrupted command and control for special operations forces conducting missions under Operations Inherent Resolve and Spartan Shield.
Operation Tomodachi
A 9.0 earthquake hit the city of Tohoku, Japan in March 2011, triggering tsunami waves up to 133 feet in height and devastating much of the country. In the following days, fifty-three JECC personnel deployed to supply communications infrastructure and equipment in support of the U.S. Pacific Command and the Japan Self Defense Forces humanitarian relief efforts, helping to fill capability gaps during this crisis.
