Joint Enabling Capabilities Command

 

Brig. Gen. Christopher M. Zidek is the Deputy Commander, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, Norfolk, Virginia. In this role, he assists the Commander in leading a headquarters element and two subordinate commands: the Joint Planning Support Element and the Joint Communications Support Element. The JECC rapidly deploys tailored joint capabilities to accelerate the establishment of Joint Force Headquarters and enable mission success in support of global operations.

Brig. Gen. Zidek is a native of San Diego, California, and was commissioned in 1996 through the Air Force ROTC program at San Diego State University. He is a master navigator with more than 2,500 flying hours and has flown combat missions in support of operations Enduring Freedom, Allied Force, and Northern and Southern Watch.

His operational assignments include: KC-135R Navigator, Instructor and Evaluator, 349th Air Refueling Squadron; KC-135 Combat Crew Training School Instructor/Evaluator Navigator, 54th Air Refueling Squadron; and Commander, 302nd Airlift Wing.

His supporting establishment assignments include: Chief, Total Force Integration, SecAF/CSAF Executive Action Group; Deputy Division Chief, Transregional Threats Coordination Cell, J5, the Joint Staff; and Commander, Force Generation Center, Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command. He also serves as a Presidential Advance Agent.

His military education includes: Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College. He also completed the NATO Senior Officer Policy Course and the Leadership Decision Making Course at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School.

Brig. Gen. Zidek holds a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Master of Strategic Studies from Air War College.
